How do I revoke SMS permission? There are two different actions:Read answerDoes HisabAI send my SMS to a server to find expenses? No. Raw SMS text is filtered and parsed on the Android device. The raw message body is not uploaded for normal SMS import.Read answerWhy is voice input not enabled or why is there no microphone icon?Voice input is shown only when all required conditions are met:Read answer
Voice input
How do I use quick voice entry? On a supported Home or group screen:Read answerWhy does tapping the microphone button open manual entry?Voice is a press-and-hold action. A normal tap is intentionally reserved for adding an expense manually. Hold until voice mode starts, speak, then release.Read answerWhy does voice say that microphone permission is required?Allow Microphone and, where the operating system exposes it separately, Speech Recognition access for HisabAI. If permission was permanently denied, enable it from the phone's system settings and reopen the app.Read answerWhy does voice say it did not catch or understand me?Speak after voice mode starts and before releasing. Include a clear amount and a short merchant/source phrase. Use the device's supported speech language/locale. Check the internet connection; interpretation requires a server request. Retry or use manual entry if the speech service returns no match, no speech, network, or timeout errors.Read answerIs voice input a paid or limited feature?Yes. Voice is an assisted-capture feature controlled by subscription entitlement and usage quota. The exact allowance shown in the app is the source of truth. Open Profile → Settings → Subscription to see current usage or upgrade options.Read answerIs voice data sent to a server? It depends on the entry point, but voice is not an on-device-only feature:Read answer
Receipt scanning
How do I scan a receipt?Open Scan Receipt from the Home quick action or expense flow. Choose Take Photo or Upload File. Review merchant, date, total, tax, and detected items, then tap Use These Details. You can edit the fields on the next screen before saving.Read answerWhich receipt files are accepted? The scanner accepts camera photos, JPEG/JPG images, PNG images, and PDF receipts.Read answerIs the receipt image processed on my phone? The app compresses images on the phone, then sends the image or PDF to the HisabAI OCR service for extraction. Receipt scanning is therefore different from SMS import: receipt content does leave the device for processing.Read answerWhy is receipt scanning locked or unavailable?Receipt scanning requires Plus-level access or an assigned OCR quota, and the current allowance must be available. Camera permission is also required to take a photo. You can always choose Enter Manually.Read answerThe receipt result is wrong or low confidence. What should I do?Use a clear, well-lit, straight photo with the full receipt visible. The preview warns when confidence is low. Verify every field, choose Scan Again if needed, or continue and correct the prefilled form before saving.Read answerThe receipt scan timed out. Do I need to photograph it again? No. Tap Try Again to resend the last prepared image. If it repeatedly times out, use a smaller/clearer image or enter the expense manually.Read answer
SMS import — Android
Is SMS import available on iPhone? No. SMS import is Android-only because iOS does not allow this inbox-reading workflow. On iPhone, use Profile → Settings → Import → Upload statement.Read answerWhich Android versions support SMS import? The native SMS module treats iOS, web, and Android below API 24 as unsupported. On a supported Android device, an old app build can also lack the latest backfill module; update HisabAI before troubleshooting permissions.Read answerHow do I enable SMS import?Open Profile → Settings → Import → SMS import, tap Enable SMS import, and approve the Android SMS permission. After enabling it, choose a historical window of 30, 90, or 180 days if you want to import older alerts.Read answerWhat SMS does HisabAI process? The current user-facing support list covers:Read answerDoes HisabAI read every SMS in my inbox?Android grants inbox access at the operating-system level, but HisabAI's import logic filters for verified financial senders and supported transaction formats. Non-financial messages and unmatched messages are not uploaded as transactions.Read answerAre raw SMS bodies ever uploaded in the production app?No, not through the normal production SMS-import path. Successful parsing happens in the native Android module and produces structured fields without sending the body through the normal upload queue. Developer builds have a separately gated grammar-miss capture tool for parser development; it is not exposed in release builds.Read answerWhy does SMS import show Off, Paused, or Not available?Off — permission was not granted, was denied, or import has not been enabled. Paused — Android SMS permission is still granted, but the listener is not currently running/user intent is off. Open the row and enable import again. Not available — the device/platform/build does not support the native SMS feature. Update the Android app or use statement upload.Read answerI denied SMS permission once. How do I try again?Open the SMS import screen and tap Try again. If Android has marked the denial permanent or no longer shows the permission dialog, tap Open Settings and grant SMS permission to HisabAI manually.Read answerDoes SMS import continue when HisabAI is closed? The live listener is foreground-driven. New supported alerts sync automatically while HisabAI is open. When you return to the app, catch-up/backfill logic can scan the permitted inbox range for alerts received while it was closed.Read answerWhy did SMS import miss a transaction?Check all of the following:Read answerCan SMS import create duplicates? The app uses a hash and server-side idempotency/deduplication rules to avoid re-adding the same SMS. Import History also reports automatically merged duplicates. An ambiguous overlap may still need user review; verify the ledger after a large import.Read answerCan I cancel a historical SMS import?Yes. Cancel from the active import screen or its Android notification. A low battery can also pause the worker until the phone is charging. Transactions already processed before cancellation remain in the ledger.Read answerDoes disabling SMS import delete imported expenses? No. Disabling import stops future listening/catch-up and clears pending device work. Already-imported transactions remain. To remove a recent batch, open Import History, select it, and use Undo Import while the seven-day undo window is still open.Read answer
Bank and card statement import
How do I upload a bank or credit-card statement?Open Profile → Settings → Import → Upload statement. Select the bank/account type, choose a file, continue to preview, review the extracted transactions, then commit the import.Read answerWhich statement formats are supported? The file picker accepts PDF, CSV, XLS, and XLSX, with a maximum file size of 10 MB.Read answerWhich statement sources are listed in the app?The current selector includes:Read answerWhat happens to an uploaded statement file? The statement is uploaded privately for server-side parsing. The app tells the user that the file is encrypted and kept for 7 days. Extracted/confirmed transactions become part of the server-backed ledger.Read answerMy PDF is password protected. Can I still import it?Yes. The app detects many encrypted PDFs and opens a password prompt. Enter the statement's user/open password. If the password is wrong, retry with the correct one; HisabAI cannot parse the statement without opening it.Read answerWhy did statement import fail?Common causes are:Read answerWill the same statement be imported twice? The import service checks statement identity/period and transaction overlaps. Exact retries are rejected or merged rather than silently creating a second identical ledger. Always review the preview and Import History counts.Read answerHow do I undo an import?Open Profile → Settings → Import History, select a committed import, and tap Undo Import. Confirm the number of transactions that will be removed.Read answerWhat do the Import History counts mean?Imported — transactions added to the ledger. Auto-merged duplicates — rows matched with existing transactions rather than added again. Total in batch — all rows considered in that import. Failed — nothing was committed for that failed import. Reverted — the import was undone and its imported transactions were removed.Read answer
