Getting started

What is HisabAI?

HisabAI is an India-first expense tracking and bill-splitting app for friends, roommates, families, and trips. It helps you record expenses, split bills equally or with custom shares, track who owes whom, and understand personal spending through category insights and AI-assisted summaries.

Is HisabAI free?

Yes. HisabAI Free includes basic expense tracking and up to 3 active groups. Plus (₹499 / yr) and Pro (₹4,599 / yr) add AI insights, receipt scanning, exports, family groups, and higher limits.

Where can I download HisabAI?

HisabAI is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store. Direct download links are on the homepage and pricing page.

Splitting bills

How do equal, unequal, and custom splits work?

Add an expense, choose the members who participated, pick the payer, and select a split method. HisabAI calculates each person's share — equal across the group, unequal with specific amounts, or custom with percentages or item-wise shares — and updates the running balance for everyone.

Can I export a group or family summary?

Yes. Exports are included on paid plans — 5 per month on Plus and 50 per month on Pro. Use them for settlements, household budgets, or just to share a clean summary with the group.

India and UPI

Does HisabAI work for India?

Yes. HisabAI is built in India for India-first use cases — INR currency, UPI-friendly settlement flow, family and roommate group types, and receipt formats common in India. See the India-first explainer for details.

Does HisabAI support UPI?

HisabAI helps you record settlements and hands off to your preferred UPI app (PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, BHIM, or any other) for the actual transfer. HisabAI is not a payment processor.

Does HisabAI store my UPI PIN or bank credentials?

No. HisabAI does not store UPI PINs, bank login credentials, CVVs, full card numbers, OTPs, or net-banking passwords. UPI authentication stays inside your UPI app under your bank's control.

Roommates, trips, and families

Can roommates use HisabAI for rent, groceries, and utilities?

Yes. Roommate groups in HisabAI are designed around exactly these categories — rent, groceries, Wi-Fi, electricity, maid salary, and one-off repairs. Use equal, share-based, or custom splits as needed.

Can I use HisabAI for trip expenses?

Yes. Trip groups handle hotels, fuel, food, tickets, and activities across the trip, with a settle-ready summary at the end. Works for Goa, Manali, road trips, college tours, and office offsites.

Can families use HisabAI without settling every transaction?

Yes. Family groups focus on tracking by heads and categories. Settlement is optional, which fits Indian households that pool money rather than paying each other after every grocery run.

Personal expenses

Is HisabAI only for groups, or can I track personal spending too?

Both. HisabAI tracks personal expenses alongside group balances with category insights, monthly summaries, and AI-assisted highlights — so you can see where your own money is going without maintaining a separate spreadsheet.

AI features

What AI features does HisabAI have?

Voice input for quick expense entry, receipt scanning for restaurant and store bills, category suggestions, monthly insights, and "what changed" summaries. AI limits scale with your plan — Plus includes 60 insights and 20 receipt scans per month; Pro includes 400 insights and 150 scans.

Are AI outputs reliable for financial decisions?

AI outputs are assistive and may require review for accuracy before relying on them for decisions. AI does not access your bank or UPI account — it only works with the expense data you record in HisabAI.

Pricing and plans

What are the HisabAI plans?

Free includes basic tracking and 3 active groups. Plus (₹499 / yr) includes 60 AI insights, 20 receipt scans, 5 exports per month, AI voice input, and 10 groups + 1 family group. Pro (₹4,599 / yr) raises those to 400 / 150 / 50, with unlimited insight cards, 50 groups, and unlimited family groups.

Can I switch plans later or cancel anytime?

Yes. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel from account settings at any time. Yearly plans give clear savings vs monthly billing.

Privacy, security, and your data

Is HisabAI safe? What does it store?

HisabAI encrypts data in transit and at rest, does not store UPI PINs or bank credentials, and does not sell personal data or run third-party ad networks. It is not a bank, NBFC, wallet, or payment processor. See the Security page for the full picture.

Can I delete my account and data?

Yes. You can request deletion from in-app settings or by emailing support@hisabai.in. Account, expense, settlement, backup, and analytics retention timelines are documented in the Data Retention Policy.
